Udhampur, Mar 30: The Senior Citizens Club Udhampur advised its members and urged older, adults to stay indoors due to corona virus. Older people are twice as likely to have serious complications if they get COVID-19. And it is harder to fight infection for the people with chronic conditions such as heart disease, lung disease and diabetes, and they are also more at risk for severe cases of COVID-19 owing to the weakening of the immune system with age. They were advised to limit their access to buying essentialities and should obtain the services of the volunteers earmarked by the administration ward wise. Geriatricians have recommended to their patients to adhere to instructions issued by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and world health organizations (WHO) to strictly follow the instructions of maintaining social and personal hygiene. The executive/advisory bodies of the Club have requested its members to stay connected through cell phones and Whatsapp group and should be helpful to one and each other if any member require any help. |
