CS directs officials to intensify efforts to contain spread of Covid-19

Srinagar, Mar 30: In the wake of rise in number of infected persons, Chief Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Union territory government asked the officials to double the efforts for containing the spread of the deadly virus.
Sources said that the Chief Secretary in a series of meeting said that the officials must intensify the preparatory efforts for preventing the spread of the virus.
Sources said that Chief Secretary, BVR Subrahmanyam, also took stock of measures put in place by the Health Department to prevent spread of Coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir. “The Chief Secretary has once again appealed to the general public to stay home, maintain social distance and avoid close contact” sources said. The Chief Secretary said as per the guidelines issued by Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, each department has its own role to play so that there were coordinated efforts to meet out the evolving Coronavirus situation in J&K.
Sources said that the Chief Secretary has directed the officials to increase the isolation and quarantine centers as well as beds in the hospitals and asked the officials for tracing the contacts of the suspected cases of Covid-19 so that random sampling and testing could be done as a precautionary measure.
“Ensure the home delivery of essential commodities in vulnerable areas; identify labour pockets and slum areas and form teams to provide ration and essential commodities to these areas,” the CS said.
