Early Times Report

Poonch, Mar 30: The District Administration Poonch has virtually failed to mitigate the grievances of the local residents during COVID 19 pandemic due to its lacklustre arrangements, which are not reaching to the people living in far flung areas of the district.
The people have been facing huge shortage of grocery items due to shutting down of the most the grocery shops.
“Not only the grocery shops, even the shops of cattle fodder are not being allowed to open by the police and administration due to which we are not able to provide fodder to the our cattle and resulting they are facing severe starvation and there is no help from the administration side which claim to provide any help to the people immediately,” resident alleged. They further said that everybody is thinking about the food for the people but nobody has given a thought toward the cattle, which are essential part of their lives but now these cattle are facing hunger. Shopkeepers allegedly said that they are not being allowed to open their shops all the day and moreover they are also facing short of supply of grocery items in their shops.
“We have heard that administration has been claiming to provide essential commodities at door steps but facts on the ground totally contradict its’ claims.
The most of the shops are running without grocery items as no supply is coming from the wholesalers,” shopkeepers alleged further adding that at least a specific time should be given to shopkeepers to open their shops. “The border villages of district including Kirni, Shahpur, Sabaizan, KG sector etc. are facing huge problem due to mismanagement by the district administration.
Villages have been getting no medical facility for the residents as well as for their cattle,” they said further adding that teams of doctors should be deployed in border villages.
They further said that in PHCs, doctors are not performing their duties properly as it has been observed that patients are examined by the doctors without touching them, which is totally unethical of their profession, which can put the lives of people in grave dangers.
The villagers urged the Prime Minister and Lieutenant Governor to provide medical facility including masks and sanitizers
