Anyone can fall prey to COVID-19
3/30/2020 10:57:18 PM
As the number of COVID-19 positive cases in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is showing an upward trend, authorities are facing multiple challenges.
Besides treating the COVID-19 cases, authorities have to trace their contacts and quarantine them. It's not an easy job at all.
The first ones who are placed under quarantine after anyone tests positive are his family members. But the complaints are coming to fore that people who are placed under quarantine are being treated shabbily.
Situation across the country has changed drastically after COVID-19 has reached India. Entire India is under lockdown and people are being advised to stay away from each other to ensure that this deadly virus doesn't spread. The number of infected cases in J&K UT has crossed 45 mark with 33 in Kashmir and 12 in Jammu region. Overall it's a depressing situation. It's high time for all of us realize that anyone us can become a victim or a patient. And to get infected is no stigma. Doctors who are showing reluctance to treat the infected patients and are staying away from the people who are under quarantine should learn some lessons from doctors of China, Italy, United Kingdom, United States, Iran and other countries. The doctors in these countries are leading from the front. They are not seeking any leaves and are trying to put in extra efforts to save the lives which they can.
Recently a media report stated that an influential doctor wife of a senior doctor in Jammu region was granted childcare leave, despite the fact that leaves of medicos across the country stand canceled. This has triggered strong resentment within the medical fraternity.
The outbreak of Coranavirus has brought the entire world on its knees. Now it is our duty to stand together and fight this deadly virus. If we fail to join hands in our fight against the COVID-19 it can lead to many deaths. This is not the time to fight with each other and run away from our responsibilities. People who are being put under quarantine at different facilities need to be provided with all the facilities. They cannot be treated as criminals. The members of the medical fraternity who are fighting this battle need to be given the protective gear and other necessary items to keep themselves safe. We have to defeat this virus, which is threatening the entire human race.
