COVID19: District Admin restricts movement in Jammu parts

jammu, Mar 30: In view of rising threat of Coronavirus pandemic and to prevent its further spread, District Administration has restricted movement of individuals in parts of Jammu City.
As per order issued here by District Magistrate Jammu Sushma Chauhan, no movement of any individual for any reason whatsoever shall be permitted into and out of Bhatindi and Sunjawan areas, falling under Police Station Trikuta Nagar and Gujjar Nagar area falling under Police Station Peer Mitha of District Jammu.
The order further read that under Section 144 of CrPC with relevant provisions under Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 and the Disaster Management Act, 2005 in connection with apprehended danger to human safety.
"Whereas, it has been made to appear to me, in view of the situation emerging due to COVID-19 in District Jammu, that there is sufficient ground for proceeding under Section 144 of CrPC for immediate prevention or speedy remedy is desirable to prevent danger to human life, health or safety and whereas, Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 and Disaster management Act, 2005 also empower the undersigned to issue certain directions for safety and preventing any harm to human life," read an order.
"However, for any medical emergency, individuals can contact 24X7 Website: http://jammu.gov.in control room at 0191-2571616, 0191-2571912 and necessary facilitation shall be done," it read.
"Any violation of this order shall invite punitive action under section 188 of Indian Penal Code and other relevant sections of Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 and the Disaster Management Act, 2005," said the District Magistrate.
"In order to strengthen the COVID containment operations in some areas of Trikuta Nagar from where recent positive cases have been traced, we have intensified the lockdown in Bhatindi and neighbouring states," she said and added, "We are further doing it today in area of Janipur as well in the interest of the public at large."
