After release of Abdullahs, NC leaders get active on social media
4/1/2020 12:02:32 AM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 31: Whereas most the leaders of the National Conference would prefer silence since the abrogation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019, the NC team is back on the social media after the release of their top leaders.
Whereas after the release of former Chief Minister NC patron Dr Farooq Abdullah from home prison, the NC leaders had started venturing out and meeting people and even met their leader in question, the confidence seems to have got a boost after release of former Chief Minister and party president Omar Abdullah.
Sources said the party is understood to have resumed its Whats App account where the leaders keep sharing their views and interact with each other. The party leaders have also gone active on social media.
The NC leaders have been constantly active on their Twitter and Facebook handles. They are constantly making public posts.
None of the NC leaders is however making any political statement but have been posting about public issues.
Sources said the NC leaders have been given instructions from their top brass that not to make any post about politics.
A senior NC leader while defending resumption of social media activities said “speaking about issues of public in times of pandemic is duty of every public representative.”
Meanwhile Omar Abdullah continues to be active on Twitter since the moment he was released from Hari Nivas Sub Jail and posted a picture with his father and mother after having lunch with them.
Sources said Omar “remained inspiration for the NC leaders to resume social media accounts.” “When we saw him(Omar) getting active on social media we thought there was no harm in doing so and we just followed him,” said a NC leader on the condition of anonymity.
It is pertinent to mention that things started seemingly coming in favor of release of the Abdullahs in February, when former Raw Chief AS Dulat held secret talks with Dr Abdullah. Thereafter, Dr Abdullah was released, to be followed by release of his son.
