Tracing out hiding Tablighi Jamaat activists biggest challenge before authorities
4/2/2020 12:25:55 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Apr 1: Tracing out hiding workers of Tablighi Jamaat is a biggest challenge before the authorities in J&K as these activists are posing serious threat in this region.
After national media exposed Nizammuddin case of Delhi, administration of J&K is on its toes to identify and locate all those who have directly and indirectly involved with Jamaat activists who had attended Markaz at Delhi in the second week of March.
Credible sources said that authorities have completely sealed many parts of Jammu, Srinagar, Rajouri, Shopian and Budgam districts to track these Jamaat workers but many are still hiding in different areas and are not ready to come forward.
Tablighi Jamaat has emerged as the biggest source of spreading Coronavirus in South Asia, especially in India. Its religious congregations are said to be the source of hundreds of positive cases of the disease in the region.
In India, the Ministry of Home Affairs is in touch with various states to identify the over 3,000 people, among them foreigners from other Southeast Asian countries including Covid-19 hotspot Malaysia, who had taken part in a Tablighi Jamaat gathering in the national capital’s Nizamuddin area in early March.
The sources said many have been identified and steps are being taken to test and isolate them.
At least 10 people who took part in the Nizamuddin gathering, including Tablighi Jamaat’s Kashmir head, have succumbed to the disease in India. In Telangana, the government has identified six such deaths.
The police, in J&K, has prepared a list of those who attended the event and also appealed to the public to come forward and identify themselves.
Of the 62 confirmed cases in J&K, many had attended the Nizamuddin event or came in contact with those who attended.
