Abolish fresh registration of "migrants" after domicile notification: Chrungoo

Jammu, Apr 1: Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, Senior BJP & Kashmiri Pandit leader in a statement at Jammu today appreciated the Gazette Notification of the Central government in regard to the domicile issue in the J&K state. The Central government in its latest gazette notification states that any person who has resided in the Union Territory of J&K for the period of fifteen years or has studied for the period of seven years and appeared in secondary and higher secondary board examination would be considered as domicile of J&K and appointed in the services there. The new gazette notification states that a "migrant" registered by the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrants) in the newly formed Union Territory would also be considered as domicile. The children of parents who have stayed in J&K for 15 years or are registered as "migrants" would also be considered as domicile. Chrungoo said, "the issue of fresh registration of migrants with the Relief & Rehabilitation office should be immediately stopped with effect from 1st. April 2020. This issue was raised with the appropriate authorities earlier as well, but the exigencies of situation so warrant that the registration should come to a close formally and officially now." He said that there are a number of elements who always try to exploit the legal and formal procedure to the benefits of the vested interests. Continuation of registration of "migrants" has since lost its relevance and the system need to be abolished forthwith. This will also protect the interests of the already registered "migrants" and their progeny in both Jammu and Kashmir provinces. He said that the people also need to co-operate the government and the administration in their efforts to execute the Lockdown in the UT. Any movement outside the home without an emergency or loitering defeat the purpose of the Lockdown. The doctrine of #StayHomeStaySafe has created a new hope of survival for the human race globally.
Chrungoo also made an appeal to the people of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir in general to donate and contribute to the 'PM Cares Fund' regarding fight against China Wuhan Virus COVID19. He made a special request to the people to contribute a minimum of Rupees one hundred and one per person on the auspicious occasion of "Kanya-Pujan & Ram-Navmi" to the fund this year.
