Mahakali Nagar-Gaddigarh area a no man’s baby

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Apr 3: The Mahakali Nagar in the Upper Gadigarh area has turned out to be nobody’s baby since the people living in the area are up against many problems and there is no relief from the people at helm.
The people living in the area are facing multiple problems and they are aghast with the previous governments that nothing was done for them by the people who ruled Jammu & Kashmir so far. They demanded that the Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu should step up and take the necessary measures at the earliest.
“The rivulet that passes through our area has been turned into a garbage point as different type of garbage is being dumped into the same. Over the years the concerned departments have turned a blind eye towards this problem and the same has assumed alarming proportions as on date,” said the residents in one voice.
The residents said that garbage remains scattered on the roads, lanes and by-lanes of the area for days together and nobody bothers to lift the same so that it is disposed off through scientific means. They said the sanitation staff is found missing adding that the civic authority needs to pull up the socks.
The Mahakali Nagar, Upper Gadigarh is part of the Gandhi Nagar constituency and despite being located too close to one of the posh areas the area presents a picture of absolute neglect. The residents are also upset over the bad condition of roads and said that over the years the roads have not been developed to the level they should have been.
“The condition of roads is so bad in the area that during the rains it becomes difficult to move around. During the summer season the dust comes off the roads and it leads to many chest related health issues. Despite all this the people at helm are unmoved and no action has been taken,” said the residents.
The garbage dumper placed in the area is filled to the brim and most of the times it overflows thus leading to nuisance in the area. The foul smell emanating from the garbage forces the people to cover their face and mouth while they are passing through the area.
Munish Gupta, Editor in Chief, Early Times has impressed upon the administration to take corrective measures and ensure that people of the Mahakali Nagar area feel benefitted by pro-people measures. Munish said that time demands that neglect of the area comes to an end so that people live a normal life.
Munish, who is contesting the next assembly elections as an independent from Gandhi Nagar constituency said that people of the area have suffered a lot and continue to suffer even for the basic amenities of life. He demanded a speedy action adding that same is the need of the hour.
