EARLY TIMES REPORT

ANANTNAG, Apr 4: Assuring support to civilian population during COVID-19 crises, Army on Saturday said that militants were potential virus carriers and asked people to stop giving shelter to them.
“Our strategy is clear. We are on a mission to neutralize all the terrorists operating in your (Kashmir) area so that COVID-19 virus doesn’t spread more because they (terrorists) keep moving from one place to another and we don’t know who is infected or not from this virus,” GOC Victor Force, Major General Anandiya Sengupta told Early Times at Victor Force Headquarter. GOC Victor Force said that they were ready to support and help civilian population during COVID-19 crises.
“We will play our role and help civilian population during this and we are trying our best to help the population and ensure our help reaches to deserving people on time,” he added.
Earlier, GOC Victor Force complimented forces for neutralizing four terrorists who had targeted and killed civilians in Anantnag and Kulgam district of South Kashmir.
“We started receiving information about the movement of militants a day after they killed two civilians in Nandimarg village of Kokernag.
Yesterday we received strong input about their presence in Chimar Village of Kulgam.
Militants were offered to surrender but they didn’t and instead fired upon forces.
This led to an encounter in which four terrorists were neutralized and the search for body of fifth terrorist is underway,” he said.
He said that a large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the terrorists killed in encounter.
