JKNPP terms termination of health employees condemnable
4/5/2020 10:57:47 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 5: Condemning the termination of para-medicos and staff nurses engaged under SRO-24 in GMC Kathua, GMC Doda and GMC Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) Chairman Harsh Dev Singh has described the govt. move as highly atrocious, cruel and unwarranted. He regretted that only yesterday, the H&ME Department issued termination orders to 47 staff nurses of GMC Kathua and 50 staff nurses of GMC Rajouri besides disengaging dozens of other para-medicos. “It is regrettable that the medicos who had been appointed under SRO-24 under a well defined selection process and had been rendering their services to the utmost satisfaction of the department are being issued termination notices at a time when then services are needed most by the community.
And while the services of the said professionals are being terminated, the govt. is appointing retired medicos to meet the Health emergency in the Union Territory (UT), lamented Singh. He was addressing a press conference in Jammu today. Singh further pointed out that while none of the para-medicos appointed under SRO-24 has been disengaged in GMC Anantnag and GMC Baramulla, the termination of Jammu based staff nurses and other staff was highly condemnable and amply exemplified the double standards of the present regime.
He said that appointees of both the regions needed to be continued in view of acute deficiency of technical staff and related facilities in the Health Department. Moreover the disengagement of the said Health workers at the present Juncture would not only operate harshly against the ousted employees but would also deprive the community of existing health care services.
He reminded the central and state governments of their tall slogans that none would be terminated during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic as also their appeals to the corporate sector not to disengage the private work force. But what actually was being done in J&K had exposed the present dispensation in a bad light, asserted Singh.
Seeking withdrawal of the termination notices, Singh called for personal intervention of Lt. Governor and Advisor I/c Health to ensure restoration of the services of the para-medico in the overall interest of health care system in the J&K, UT.
