EARLY TIMES REPORT

BANIHAL, Apr 8: In what could be described as bizarre, the Allopathic Dispensary at Neel falling under Medical Block Ukhral in Banihal area of Ramban district is closed even at the time when the entire world including Union Territory of J&K is facing constant threat from COVID-19 pandemic.
As per the details available with Early Times, the Allopathic Dispensary Neel has been established with the aim to provide health facilities to the people living in Ramsoo and Neel area of the Banihal Sub Division.
Since the people living in these areas still lack basic health facilities in the need of hour, several areas falling under the jurisdictional limit of this Allopathic Dispensary are solely dependent on it particularly those far flung pockets having no alternative medical facilities available nearby.
The people told Early Times that they also brought the matter into the notice of BMO Ukhral about the plight of the inhabitants of this area due to closure of the dispensary as well as non-availability of doctors vacant posts of medicos are lying vacant for quite some time.
The people called for immediate shifting of the employees posted in this allopathic dispensary since they are neither attending their duty nor they behave properly with the people seeking medical advice from them.
They said that this dispensary always found to be closed as and when people were in need of medical attention especially amid COVID-19 scare adding that its functionality is more than necessary for the people since there is non-availability of the transportation to reach some other health centers or to the city hospital for treatment.
They said that even concern CMO did not give any positive response to the repeated pleas from the local inhabitants.
The people informed that recently a child died due to the lack of medical attention since allopathic dispensary was closed thereby not fulfilling the purpose of its establishment in the area.
The people called for strict possible action against the erring officials posted in the allopathic dispensary without any delay and urged upon the government to provide dedicated staff so that the dispensary could remain functional throughout the year.
