PDA sets up COVID helpline, employees raise funds to help needy

Anantnag, Apr 9: In an effort to provide relief to people, Pahalgam Development Authority on Thursday established COVID-19 helpline for the people of Pahalgam and adjoining villages. The employees also raised funds for helping poor and needy families.
Chief Executive Officer Pahalgam Development Authority, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani (KAS) told Early Times that the development authority has established the COVID-19 helpline to facilitate those who require help during the lockdown. “This helpline has been established for multiple purposes. First and the most important purpose of establishing this helpline will be to help those who need immediate medical help,” Mushtaq Simnani said.
He said that PDA local staff has been engaged in educating the people about the coronavirus outbreak and people of Pahalgam and adjacent villages of being conveyed to support the lockdown and ensure social distancing.
“We have published posters to educate the people and have established a strong connection with all local awqaf committees through a whatsapp group. They have been conveyed to communicate all the issues to PDA through helpline in case they require help,” he said.
Simnani said that the employees have raised funds and out of those funds poor and needy are being provided help by providing them ration and other eatables.
‘We aren’t using government in this whole exercise. I and my employees have contributed one day salary for this cause. Three hundred needy families have been provided ration and other eatables and we continue to do so till we win the fight against COVID-19 and lockdown is over,” he added.
