Early Times Report

BANDIPORA, Apr 9: Doctors in Hajin block, who went on strike earlier in the day after DC Bandipora allegedly misbehaved with one of their senior colleagues over phone, resumed their duties later on in the evening after the Sub-District Magistrate (SDM) Sumbal and police made an intervention to end the impasse. Earlier protesting against the incident, a senior doctor said that it is the second time that the DC Bandipora, Shahbaz Mirza misbehaved with the staff. He said, despite Hajin Block is working day and night during present COVID-19 crisis, the block is not getting an effective cooperation from the district administration.
He said that the entire medical staff of the block will continue their strike till a probe is taken up by the higher authorities.
The agitated doctors raised slogans against DC Bandipora and demanded his immediate suspension forthwith.
“The coronavirus is spreading throughout Kashmir while the doctors and medical staff are working round the clock to combat it but sorry to say we are being mistreated,” said protesting doctors.
Another senior official said that he is also a part of this protest, and strike will not end until and unless the matter is taken for sympathetic consideration by the higher authorities.
However, the protesting doctors and medical staff at Community Health Centre (CHC) Hajin resumed their duties in the evening following an intervention by SDM Sumbal and Hajin police. SDM Sumbal, visited health centre soon after the doctors there alleged misbehaviour by the DC Bandipora and sorted out the matter with them later amicably.
The protesting doctors called off the protest after few hours and resumed their work at the hospital, he said.
