SMC mayor parades Srinagar streets but with luxurious chairs
Netizens call it theatrics, ask SMC to work instead of performing photo-ops

Early Times Report
jammu, Apr 9: Theatrics were again ruthlessly at play in Srinagar with SMC Mayor along with a bunch of corporation officials parading the COVID-19 infested streets, donning white protective gears and posing for the cameras.
However, the desperation to steal the limelight amid the current paranoia went miserably wrong when netizens begin questioning the SMC mayor over the optics he was enacting in a broad day light.
As Matoo along with few officials was busy getting his pictures uploaded on social media, what caught an eye of the netiznes was the luxurious chairs Matoo and his acquaintances were sitting on. These luxurious and expensive chairs wrapped with light yellow tinted leather were brought by the poor SMC workers all the way from the headoffice of the corporation and huddled on government vehicles- following Matoo wherever goes. These luxurious chairs are then readily placed on the middle of the desolated roads and SMC officials masquerading as ambitious medieval despots use them with all smugness and pride.
The netizens while watching these pictures questioned how the anarchic style in which the SMC was functioning even amid the current uncertain and trying circumstances. They allege that when the entire administration was on the tenterhooks to get the people out of the current morass, how come Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) is upholding the flag of anarchism and VVIP racism, ruthlessly displaying the luxurious and expensive chairs in the middle of the roads. The pictures showing SMC mayor and other officials sitting on these chairs have gone viral and people in hoards are finding the scenes amusing of how ambitiously is the SMC displaying the VIP culture. "There are doctors, paramedic staff performing duties round the clock. There are people supplying essentials to the households with no hunger for any adulation or praise and there is SMC doing what it is ought to do but making it all look larger than life. This is extremely painful and unfortunate," was how one netizen put it.
Meanwhile, Early Times already reported chasm between the corporators of Srinagar Municipal Corporation and the civil authorities posted there is getting wider with each passing day, hinting at the major crises in the offing in the already trouble-torn place. The speculations are rife about how the SMC mayor and the corporators are trying to perturb the functioning of the corporation and are placing unnecessary hurdles in its routine as hinted by none other than the SMC commissioner himself in his public statement recently.
