Early Times Report

JAMMU, May 13: A singer par excellence, a prolific lyricist, an established producer and last but not the least, an expert Yoga teacher, Sushma Rajput is an embodiment of a true all-rounder.
Born on 4th of March, 1980 at village Damnote, in block and Tehsil Pancheri, a remote area of district Udhampur, Sushma Rajput belongs to a middle class family. Her father, Dharm Singh is a businessman while her mother, Banti Devi is a housewife.
After her schooling from Government Higher Secondary School, Udhampur, Rajput did her graduation from Government College for Women, Udhampur and completed her Post Graduation in Sociology from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) beside she also did DOEACC ‘A’ Level course in Computers from Delhi.
However, Sushma Rajput’s core area of interest was music. While studying at Udhampur, she started to take music classes and learnt classical vocal music from Yash Kumar.
It was Maa Chamunda Mata Sanstha, Damnote in block Pancheri which provided a platform to Rajput to showcase her singing talent for the first time ever. She sung a bhajan based on Maa Chamunda Mata at a live Jagran programme during annual Chhari Yatra of Maa Chamunda Mata.
Soon, a CD album of bhajans titled “Chandi Maa Meri Nach Di” sung by Rajput was released in the year 2013 which helped her in establishing as a singer. Later, she also launched a Youtube Channel under the name of CMD Productions.
Programme after programme, people began to appreciate her devotional songs as well as songs based on Dogri folk, Sufi tradition and Qawwali. She performed extensively in several parts of J&K as well as others states. Besides her concerts on stage, Rajput also got opportunities to perform on various TV channels.
Rajput won the prestigious national folk singing competition held at Mumbai in April, 2016 as well as 15 other achievement awards for her outstanding performances besides she also received best Yoga teacher award from Bhartiya Yoga Sansthan.
Around 55 devotional songs sung in different languages by Rajput including Dogri, Hindi and Punjabi have been released so far under the banner of CMD Productions.
After making a mark for herself in the world of music and singing, Sushma Rajput, who is famous for giving her voice to several soulful devotional songs, is now trying to shape up the careers of budding singers by providing them a suitable platform to nurture their hidden talent under the banner of CMD Productions.
In this connection, ‘Singing Star of Duggar’ competition was organized by the CMD Productions at Udhampur in February, 2018.
