| Chaman Lal Gupta welcomes package announced by PM Modi | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 14: Former Union Minister Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has termed the Rs 20 lakh package as announced by Prime Minister Shri Narender Modi as soothing to bring the country out of the economic woods caused by the unprecedented Corona Virus and observed that the PM had tried to utilize the situation for rectifying many wrongs of the past decade.
Prof. Gupta particularly referred to the plight of J&K and regretting that J&K which was self sufficient during Maharaja’s regime has come to be deficient in these matters too. Recalling that after the end of the minorities the new rulers first of all announced to the self sufficiency in food and other matters.
Infected by communal feelings and at the instance of communist fellow travelers in the ruling junta of National Conference/Congress opted for the slogan of “Land to the Tiller” and the agriculture lands of the former were snatched without any compensation asserting that the land should be owned by the tillers although many of the land owners were ex servicemen who had got the lands as awards for demonstrating extraordinary valour in the battle fields in the drive by Maharaja Gulab Singh who knit small principalities for having big State like that of J&K including Ladakh, Gilgit, Iskardu, Hunza etc.
Prof. Gupta while welcoming the package of Prime Minister to attain self sufficiency, stressed for putting up the defence production to meet the requirements of the forces at top priority and special attention should be paid to correct the wrongs committed in J&K over the decades because of the separate status and see that how the UT of J&K could be taken out from the prevailing mess in the sphere of life and attempt to make it self sufficient in food and other matters.
