SUF condemns DSGMC proposal to donate gold shrines

Jammu, May 22: Sikh United Front has condemned and disagreed with the statement given by Manjinder Singh Sirsa President DSGMC with regard to a proposal for donations of gold by shrines of various religious communities as a help in the humanity’s war on Coronavirus.
A telephonic meeting of Sikh United Front J&K and an amalgam of Various Sikh Organizations J&K held under the chairmanship of S. Sudershan Singh Wazir Chairman Sikh United front J&K, and joined by S. Dayal Singh Wazir Chairman Shiromani Akali Dal J&K, H.S Raina Ex General Sect DGPC Jammu, S. Mohinder Singh Chief Organizer Bhai Kaniya Nishkam Sewa Society J&K and Ex Member DGPC Jammu and S. Darbinder Singh President Shiromani Akali Dal J&K and S. Kulwant Singh Khajuria Joint Secretary Shiromani Akali Dal J&K.
Castigating the decision, Wazir said that gold and other sacred valuables belonging to the Sikh shrines are a collective treasure of the proud and devout Sikh community and there is no question of any individual or organisation even contemplating in the direction of donating even the smallest part of this sacred treasure. Strong Sikh religious sentiments are attached to treasures like these , some of which have immense historical and heritage value. Wazir retirated that Manjinder Singh Sirsa's statement has hurt the sentiments of various Sikhs living around the globe. Wazir said that the whole world during the time of corona pandemic is witnessing and standing up to applaud of the Sikh community setting extraordinary examples in service and selfless sacrifice in helping the poor, the needy and the hungry across the globe. It is hearts of gold that the Sikhs have showered on humanity in its hour of need. He said that it is necessary for all concerned to keep the extreme religious sensitivities of the community always in mind while responding to any suggestion for humanitarian donations of this nature.
Wazir demanded a strong action from Prakash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Singh Badal against Sirsa and asked that he should be expelled from party immediately for his anti-Panthak activities and thinking.
Meanwhile Mr Wazir also requested Jathedar Akal Takht Sahib Gaini Harpreet singh ji to take cognizance of the matter, summon and punish Manjinder Singh Sirsa for his anti-panthak thinking and statements and should be ex-communica do from Sikh faith.
