Power Employees demand sanitizers, PPE kits

JAMMU, May 25: Provincial Power Employees Union (PPEU) held a meeting here today under the Chairmanship of Shakti Gupta, Sanjeev Bali President PPEU, Ajaz Kazmi General Secretary, Manjit Singh District President, Deep Mehra Chief Organizer to express strong resentment over non-availability of requisite masks, sanitizers, PPE kits for the staff of the Power Development Department. They said that the field staff of PDD is going to be next target of the deadly COVID-19 if left unattended for want of requisite personal protective gears. The Lineman, JEs, AEs, AEEs are continuously working in tough circumstances in the field be it attending the faults, consumer complaints or billing work, they added.
The PPEU demanded that the field staff must be provided with sufficient number of the PPEs so that they do not contract infection while restoring electrical faults in the red zones and otherwise. Similarly, the billing centers must be readjusted and temporary arrangements of restraining the entry of public and channelling the queries through a single window on analogy of a testing facility should be provided in all the billing centers across PDD. The administration should immediately take up necessary measures in order to restore confidence about safety among the employees in general, the Union said.
