Advisor Baseer Khan stresses on providing best health care facilities to patients

SRINAGAR, May 25: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan today inaugurated a first of its kind Infectious Disease Block facility at SKIMS Soura for treatment of covid-19 and other pathologies infected patients exclusively. On the occasion, the Advisor accompanied by Director SKIMS, Dr AG Ahnagar inspected various wards and blocks to take first hand appraisal about functioning of the facility.
At the outset, the Advisor directed concerned to ensure all kinds of facilities including PPE kits are being provided to all frontline workers and other staff members there for their safety. He stressed on regular health check up of staff so that it (staff) as well as patients are safe while visiting or staying at the block.
Instructions were also given to concern to ensure optimum use of booth for screening of patients and proper social distancing protocol is maintained by all. Advisor said that as desired by the LG, GC Murmu, with state of art facilities available at Skims, best kind of health care facilities are provided to patients. He asked Director SKIMS to ensure enhancement of bed capacity, deployment of required staff, placing of all required machinery for smooth functioning of the facility. He further said that as of now the block shall be used solely for the treatment of covid-19 related patients which gradually shall facilitate treatment to all infectious disease patients. On the occasion, the advisor also took stock of the present covid-19 related situation and role of SKIMS in the fight for containment of the disease.
On the occasion, Director SKIMS said that this establishment of block which is a standalone facility in the Union Territory of J&K shall help in containment of the spread of disease to large extent as patients with viral infections would no more require to visit institute for the treatment but now all these patients shall be treated separately at this facility. He said that this block will not only be used for handling of covid-19 patients but could also serve the purpose of treating any kind of infective pathologies be it viral or any other pathologies in future.
