Two militants killed in encounter with security forces in south Kashmir

Srinagar, May 25: Two militants were killed in an encounter that rages between militants and security forces in Khur Hanjipora area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday.
As per the reports reached to news agency Kashmir News Bureau, a cordon and search operation was launched by joint team of Police, army’s 34 RR and CRPF in Hanjipora following some credible inputs, as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter.
In a police statement issued here said, “During the intervening night of 24/25 May 2020, on a specific input a cordon & search operation was launched jointly by Kulgam Police, 34 RR and CRPF 18 Bn at Khud Hanjipora area of district Kulgam.
During the search operation, the hiding Militants fired on the joint search party. The fire was retaliated leading to an encounter.
In the ensuing encounter, 02 unidentified Militants were killed and the bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter. The identification and affiliation of the killed Militants is being ascertained.
Incriminating material including arms & ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. All these materials have been taken into case records for further investigation and to probe their complicity in other terror crimes.
Due to efforts of the Police and security forces, it was a clean operation and no collateral damage took place during the encounter.
In this connection case FIR No. 25/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Manzgam and investigation has been initiated.
People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosive materials if any
Meanwhile, clashes erupted between security forces and protesters near the Encounter site in Manzgam Dh pora Area of Kulgam district.
Moreover, the internet services have been snapped in the twin districts of South kashmir, Shopain and Kulgam.
Pertently, two top militants ofHizbul Mujahedeen including divisional commander Junaid Sehrai, were killed in an encounter at Nawakadal in Srinagar, while over 12 houses were damaged in the encounter
