Stranded in Delhi, NC leader avoids Omar’s intervention for Ghar Wapsi

Srinagar, May 25: A senior National Conference leader from Kashmir stranded in New Delhi avoided seeking any favor from his party president and former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to travel back home amid lockdown.
Sources said the NC leader was stranded in the national capital and like any other Kashmiri he was desirous of getting back home at an earliest but that he avoided taking any favors from Omar Abdullah who could have used his “good offices to facilitate the travel of his colleague at an earliest.”
“Apart from having lobbied for the safe travel of his colleague through former spymaster AS Dulat who is close to the Abdullah family, he (Omar) could have utilized the influence of his close relative holding a powerful chair in Rajasthan, but he(NC leader) preferred to stay back stranded in Delhi than seek favor from the NC top brass,” said a source privy to the issue.
Sources said the NC leader in question has not been in good terms with the party leadership especially the Abdullahs since their release from the prison. Sources said the NC leader who used to be listed in the close aides of Omar Abdullah is not convinced with the party stand on political issues since the release of Omar and Dr Farooq Abdullah from prison a few months ago.
It has been known in the political circles in Kashmir that the said politician who has remained a Cabinet minister in the government led by Omar Abdullah, has not been in good terms with the party leadership for quite sometime.
Sources said the leader has asked the NC to come clear on its political stand and that till then he would stay away from any party activities.
It is pertinent to mention that both Omar Abdullah and his father have been silent on politics since their release after former RAW chief AS Dulat held a secret meeting with Dr Abdullah at latter’s residence prior to his release. Despite repeated attempts the NC leaders were not available for comments.
