5/28/2020 9:57:45 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, May 28: Power Employees Coordination Committee (PECC) comprising of various unions of PDD under the Chairmanship of Jaipal Sharma today held a press conference here on the issue of government proposed Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2020 towards privatization of power sector through transferring the asset created with public exchequer inclusive of natural resources to private houses.
“The PECC strongly opposes the approach of government ventilated through the proposed draconian anti-people electricity legislation with clear object of snatching away right of access to electricity from poor section of Indian people and peasants,” said Jaipal.
The conglomerate said that it is evident that the bill is for ease of making business for the profit monger community and all aspects related to right to electricity for poor people has been set aside.
The body was of the view that the bad experience from the COVID-19 crisis should have led to nationalize all sectors including Power Sector. “PECC strongly supports the decision of the power employees in country to hold National Protest Day on June 1 and exhorts upon all cadres of PDD across the UT of Jammu and Kashmir to observe the same at all District offices of Power Development Department and wear black badges while continuing to perform their duties 24x7 during this tough time of Pandemic,” the body said.
