SRINAGAR, May 28: The death toll due to Corona Virus in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 27 today as a man of Baramulla tested positive a day after his death. In the meantime, 115 fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported today in Jammu & Kashmir.
Reports said that the COVID-19 test of a 55 years old man from Baramulla turned out to be positive today even though the man had died yesterday. The man was having some other ailments and passed away due to the same on Wednesday evening. His Corona Virus test report was received today and he turned out to be positive.
So far 27 persons have lost their lives due to Corona Virus in Jammu & Kashmir. Srinagar district has recorded seven deaths with Anantnag and Baramulla districts reporting five deaths each, Kulgam four deaths, Budgam and Jammu districts two deaths each while as Bandipora and Udhampur recording a death each.
In the meantime, 115 fresh cases of Corona Virus were reported with 101 cases being reported from Kashmir valley. Kupwara district reported 45 fresh cases followed by Baramulla 16 cases, Srinagar and Budgam 11 cases each, Jammu and Shopian eight cases each, Anantnag seven cases, Kathua and Pulwama three cases each, Udhampur, Poonch and Reasi one case each. The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 115 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 14 from Jammu division and 101 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 2,036. Also one COVID-19 death has been reported from Kashmir division.
Moreover, five more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, one from Jammu division and four from Kashmir division. Out of 2036 positive cases, 1150 are active positive, 859 have recovered and 27 have died; three in Jammu division and 24 in Kashmir division. It said that out of 1, 53,522 test results available, 1, 51,486 samples have been tested as negative till date.
Additionally, till date 1, 55,736 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 37,009 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 55 in hospital quarantine, 1,150 in hospital isolation and 38,021 under home surveillance. Besides, 79,474 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Anantnag district has 289 positive cases, 164 active positive, 120 recovered, five deaths; Kulgam has 255 positive cases, 228 active positive, 23 recoveries, four deaths; Kupwara has 237 positive cases, 167 active positive, 70 recovered; Srinagar has 220 positive cases, 87 active positive, 126 recovered, seven deaths; Baramulla has 169 positive cases, 66 active positive, 98 recovered, five deaths.
“Shopian has 149 positive cases, 42 active positive, 107 recovered; Bandipora has 145 positive cases, 12 active positive, 132 recovered, one death; Budgam has 89 positive cases, 36 active positive, 51 recovered, two deaths; Ganderbal has 31 positive cases with seven active positive, 24 recoveries and Pulwama 52 positive cases, 40 active positive, 12 recovered,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 121 positive cases, 83 active positive, 36 recoveries, two deaths; Ramban has 75 positive cases, 72 active positive, three recoveries; Kathua has 59 positive cases, 43 active positive, 16 recovered; Udhampur has 51 positive cases, 28 active positive cases, 22 recovered, one death; Samba has 32 positive cases, 22 active positive, 10 recoveries.
“Poonch has 24 active positive cases, Rajouri has 15 positive cases, 11 active positive cases, four recovered; Reasi has 13 positive cases, 10 active positive, three recovered; Kishtwar has eight positive cases, seven active positive, one recovered and Doda has two positive cases with one active positive case and one recovery,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin has urged upon the public to maintain physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently clean hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquettes & hygiene which is the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
