21 bovines rescued after police foils three smuggling bids in Thanamandi

Rajouri, May 29: Rajouri police here have foiled three separate bovine smuggling bids in Thanamandi area rescuing twenty one animals from the clutches of smugglers.
Additional Superintendent of Police Rajouri, Liyaqit Ali said that during the intervening night a team of police headed by Station House Officer Thanamandi Fareed Ahmed was on routine patrolling and naka duty at
Upper bridge Thanamandi when a vehicle Tata Mobile JK11D 2488 on way from Thanamandi towards DKG was intercepted and put to frisking with three bovines were found loaded in the vehicle.
Driver of vehicle namely Mohammad Irfan son of Abdul Rashid resident of Darhali Morh Rajouri alongwith Gulshan Hussain son of Mohammad Sadiq resident of Behram Gala Surankote and Tanveer Hussain son of Mohammad Sadiq resident of Chandimarh were arrested on the spot.
He further said that at the said naka point, another vehicle Tata Mobile JK11D 2488 was intercepted at the said naka point which was driven by Mohammad Shokit son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar resident of Rajdhani Thanamandi while another person Mohammad Rayaz son of Ghulam Qadir resident of Majhoor Thanamandi was also travelling in the vehicle.
Three bovine animals were found loaded in the vehicle who were rescued while both the driver and other person were arrested on the spot.
Similarly, during patrolling of team in the area another bovine smuggling bid was foiled and two person namely Rashad Hussain son of Mohammad Bashir and Mohammad Zabir son of Mohammad Azam, resident of Behrote Thanamandi were arrested.
Fifteen bovines being smuggled towards Surankote were rescued from their clutches.
Three separate FIRs under relevant sections of law have been registered in Thanamandi police station.
Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri Chandan Kohli said that police is having a zero tolerance policy towards the menace of bovine smuggling and added that more stringent efforts are being made to tighten noose against those who are involved in smuggling.
