Order special audit of land collectors in Reasi distt: J&KAP appeals LG
5/29/2020 10:03:32 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

REASI, May 29: Seeking strict action against the collectors for delaying compensation to the farmers, Former Minister and J&K Apni Party, senior leader, Ajaz Ahmed Khan today appealed Lt Governor Girish Chander Murmu to order “special audit of collectors in Reasi districts” to ascertain why farmers were not paid damages, and land compensation even after taking over possession of their land.
“The special audit should be conducted of collectors because they have failed to distribute land compensation to the farmers despite taking over land from them from last six to seven years back,” said former minister, Ajaz Ahmed Khan. Expressing concern over the plight of the aggrieved farmers in Reasi, Khan said, these collectors also did not pay damages to the farmers and it must be looked into seriously by the LG Murmu since poor farmers were denied their right.
Appreciated the support extended by the Government of India in the shape of package to the farmers, Khan highlighted the suffering of the farmers in Reasi district who have been suffering because of ‘deliberate’ negligent attitude of the collectors. In view of ongoing lockdown, he said, “The farmers are the worst suffers especially when they have not been given compensation, their backbone has been broken.” He said that there is a need to revive the farmers in Reasi district and special attention of the Government is needed.
