Helpline established for domestic violence victims in Jammu

Jammu, May 29: In compliance to the directions of the Division Bench of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court headed by the Chief Justice, Justice Gita Mital for evolving proper mechanism to provide payment of maintenance to the domestic Violence victims during lockdown, Secretary District Legal Services Authority, Jammu, Naushad Ahmed Khan on Friday established various Helpline numbers to facilitate those in distress.
The victims can seek help by contacting 9419191583, (Advocate Deepali Aroaa, Retainer Lawyer, DLSA Jammu); 9971683722, Pooja Uppal, Legal Manager, 181 Women Helpline; 9858199221, (Shruti Uppal, Manager, One Stop Centre, Jammu); 9469211563 (Advocate Beauty Pandita, Retainer Lawyer DLSA Jammu), 9596739398 (Advocate, Jyoti Bala, Retainer Lawyer, TLSC R.S Pura); 7298372072, (Advocate Sonika Moten, Retainer Lawyers, TLSC Bishnah); 8082300365 Indu Bala; 8716035165 Vishaka Bhat; 8492910173 Nisha Thapa.
As per the DLSA, these contacts will meet the needs of the victims of domestic violence and provide them assistance.
“These helpline numbers can be approached any time by any Women, elders, Sr. Citizens, Children for providing them legal aid/assistance, counselling on domestic Violence” the DLSA informed.
These helpline numbers can also be called upon by the tenants with regard to their evictions, for child visitation, for seeking help for providing of food and also to meet their essential needs such as medicines etc. from legal services authority.
These helpline numbers would also be listening to the grievances relating to shelters and also to ascertain the welfare of the persons who have sought maintenance and those granted be, in need of assistance.
