SIF holds meeting, discusses Delimitation Commission
5/29/2020 11:31:11 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, May 29: To discuss the newly constituted Delimitation Commission for J&K, the All J&K PoJK 1947 Sharnarthi Intellectual Forum (SIF) held a meeting of its core committee members here today under the chairmanship of Adv Amrik Singh who was joined by Surjit Singh, general secretary of the Forum. In the meeting, the members discussed in detail the exercise to be taken up by the Delimitation Commission for increasing the Assembly constituencies and changes in rotation of reserved seats. The Forum welcomed the Union Government’s decision and said that it has been taken at the right time as the Assembly election in the J&K UT is due in near future. The members said that the exercise was lingering on for the last 15 years due to self-motives and intentions of the National Conference government in the erstwhile state which kept it in abeyance with the result that voters in most of the constituencies in Jammu province have crossed the figure of more than three lakh whereas in Kashmir province most of the constituencies are less than 50 and 60 thousands votes. The PoJK 1947 Sharnarthees demands their proper shares in political reservation out of 24 seats reserved for PoJK people. “Keeping in view the sentiments of J&K PoJK Sharnarthi we demand that the political reservation must be awarded to the DPs of 1947 for the sake of justice,” the members said.
The meeting was attended by Inder Singh councilor, Paramjit Singh vice president and ex councilor, HS Sudan Group Captain, Prof K D Singh and others.
