Violate COVID-19 protocol, reached Katra unauthorisedly from airport

JAMMU, May 29: Three Assistant Sub Inspectors (ASIs) of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) posted at Jammu Airport have been put on quarantine in a hotel at Katra, for violating COVID-19 protocol and risking lives of their fellow cops.
The Reasi administration caught these officers for unauthorisedly accompanying their families, who reached Jammu from Delhi.
The families of these cops yesterday reached Jammu airport from New Delhi. “The families of these cops reached here on Thursday evening in the last flight (Indigo) from New Delhi. As per the protocol, all passengers coming in J&K from outside being put on quarantine to prevent spread of Corona virus, accordingly, they were taken to Katra in a bus, and these officers accompanied their families in the vehicle unauthorisedly. After reaching Katra, they tried to mislead the staff on duty, but the driver of the bus narrated entire story to the staff”, a senior Police Officer told Early Times.
“Smelling a rat over the suspicious presence of these officers in hotel, the local administration asked for their travel tickets or any other valid pass, but these officers tried to escape, as their names were not mentioned in list of passengers sent to Katra administration”, sources part of the administration team told Early Times.
“Sensing trouble, they tried to flee from hotel, but all have been put on quarantine, because they accompanied their families from Jammu to Katra, it may be risky for other officers/officials posted at Jammu airport, if we allow them to move, however, they are requesting for same since yesterday”, the officer said.
Sources at Jammu airport informed Early Times that for their unauthorised absence all three officers have been placed under suspension. “They can’t leave their camp without the permission of their officer. Even they need a pass issued by the SP, CISF to go to in their rented accommodation outside the camp. The higher authorities of CISF late in Thursday night placed all officers under suspension”, they added.
District Magistrate, Reasi Indu Kanwal Chib when contacted said under preventive measures the three CISF personnel have been put on quarantine. “They accompanied their families from Jammu to Katra in same bus in which other passengers were transported from Jammu airport to Katra”, she said.
It is pertinent to mention here that another cop of SSB due to the COVID protocol could not attend the last rites of his father despite reaching here from Srinagar to Jammu on Thursday. “The SSB jawan, whose father’s cremation took place yesterday was not allowed to go at his native village to attend last journey of his father”, the sources said.
While the aggrieved jawan said, “I made a mistake, I should not come here, I could not sleep for a while last night, as I was not present with my family at time when I lost my father.”
