Director RDD Jammu conducts extensive tour of Rajouri district

RAJOURI, May 30: Director Rural Development Department Jammu, Sudershan Kumar, today conducted an extensive tour of various blocks of Rajouri district including Sunderbani, Siot, Lamberi and Seri to take stock of progress on works being executed under MGNREGA, 14th FC and other important schemes.
Director urged upon the concerned officers to expedite the pace of works for timely completion. He said that the main objective of his visit is to review progress on implementation of developmental schemes on the ground besides assessing their impact on the local level. He asked the concerned officers to engage the rural public in MGNREGA works as they don’t have any source of income in the lockdown period. He also exhorted upon the officials of the department to make sure that adequate masks and sanitizers are available at the worksites and ensure maintenance of social distancing in view of COVID-19 outbreak.
Director said that schemes like MGNREGA are meant to create viable and durable assets which cater to local demands and issues of the villages and panchayats besides providing livelihood to economically weaker sections of the society. He directed the BDOs and Engineers of REW to accelerate the pace of work in their respective areas by adopting innovative methods for effective implementation of the schemes. He also directed the Engineers of Rural Engineering wing for hundred per cent estimation of the works under MGNREGA.
He impressed upon the officers to achieve the set targets during the current financial year and close monitoring of ongoing works to ensure quality and adherence to timelines.
The Director was accompanied by SE, REW Shabir Ahmed, Assistant Commissioner Development, Sushil Khajuria, District Panchayat Officer, Dr.Abdul Khabir, Executive Engineer, REW, Noor Hussain and Block Development Officer besides other officials of RDD.
