Early Times Report

Rajouri, May 30: Showing thumb to PM Modi’s ambitious initiative of “Swachh Bharat Mission” , the office of Chief Medical officer (CMO) Rajouri has literally been grappling with insanitation as the garbage dumps are lying unattended, which welcome the visitors.
Sources told Early Times that piles of garbage, which are generated from the office are dumped inside the office premises instead of disposing them properly outside just at the entery gate of the office.
It is very contradicing that CMO Rajouri office, which has entire responsibility of maintaining health facilities in all health centers but his office itself has been functioning in unhygienic conditions despite the fact that presently country as well as the Rajouri district has been fighting with COVID 19 pendamic and hygiene is given more importantance.
Astonishingly, there is a health sub centre adjacent to CMO Office, where immunisation and vaccination of children is done and the foul smell emanating from garbage dumps is also felt from there, they alleged.
They further alleged that as summer season is at its peak and these garbage dumps have become breeding ground for flies and mosquitoes posing threat to dengue.
Criticising poor functioning of office of CMO Rajouri, General Secretary Rashtriya Bajrang Dal JK UT, Sushil Sharma Bajrangi said that if CMO Rajouri can’t take care of sanitation aspect in his office then it can be well imagined that what will be the condition of health centres in the district. Ignoring garbage dumps, which are lying in his office, the CMO has been mocking at SBM, which expose his non seriousness. Hundreds of people visit CMO Office and pass through these garbage dums on daily basis, even CMO himself is very well aware of this nuisance but he deliberately ignore it, he alleged. Despite repeated attempts, CMO Rajouri Dr Sanjeev Puri didn’t pick phone for his comments. Meanwhile, Dy CMO also didn’t respond to the several calls made by the correspondent.
