Militants hideout busted, ammunition recovered in Kulgam

Srinagar, June 1: Police on Monday claimed to have busted a militant hideout and recovered ammunition besides other items in south Kashmir district of Kulgam.
A police official on Monday said that based on a credible input about the presence of militants in Akhal-Malwan forest in Kupwara, a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched by Police, nine Rashtriya Rifles (RR), 10 Para and 18 battalions of CRPF on Sunday.
“During the search, a hideout was busted in Akhal Malwan forest area of Kulgam,” he said, adding items -- including one magazine of AK series, 30 rounds 7.62X39 mm, one Gas cylinder with stove, six steel plates, three steel pots, two frying pan, one wooden roti maker, one edible oil bottle, medicines, five steel glasses, one plastic mug, four sleeping bags, three rucksack bags, five woollen thermosets, one tracksuit and three uppers – were recovered from the hideout. “A case FIR No 54/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Devsar in this regard and investigations initiated to establish the full circumstances pertaining to this hideout,” he said.
He said the incriminating materials recovered have been seized by the police and taken into case records for the purpose of investigation.
