GCPF-JK raises concern over formation of SEBCC

JAMMU, June 1: General Category People’s Forum Jammu Kashmir (GCPF-JK) held a meeting of its core Committee members here today.
The meeting held under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia, the Chairman of the Forum, who was joined by Prof Yash Paul Sharma and Som Nath Sharma, President and General Secretary respectively. In the meeting, the members discussed in detail the discrimination being done by the Govt with General Category People in every sphere.
Members welcomed the decision of JK Administration, winding up State Backward Classes Commission which was a white elephant and did nothing but was cause of hatred and separation among different classes.
Speaking in the meeting, Yash Paul Sharma, President of the Forum expressed concerns over the constitution of Jammu Kashmir Socially and Educationally Backward Classes Commission (SEBCC).
He claimed that today there are socially and educationally backward families in every areas and castes.
He demanded that Govt. should notify socially and educationally backward families and their problems, adding that it is wrong to declare some areas or ethnic groups as socially and educationally backward.
He urged that the economically backward families be provided special help through special support measures, instead of dividing people in the name of areas and classes. Forum also welcomed the appointment of B R Sharma as Chairman Public Service Commission.
