Doda, Kishwtar districts record 26 cases in a day

Jammu, June 1: Doda and Kishtwar Districts which continued to remain in green zones till Sunday witnessed a major spike in COVID-19 positive cases today with 26 persons, including drivers, and others getting infected due to deadly virus.
According to the details available with Early Times the infected also include a pregnant woman operated at Doda hospital and a bride from Thatri. Their samples tested positive at Assar collection center on Jammu-Kishtwar National Highway.
As per the details one positive case reported from Thakrie created havoc in the district. The 28 year old driver after reaching Kishtwar on 27-5-2020 stayed at Berabhata, Hatta and Matta village in Kishtwar outskirts including a full night at house of a friend at Hatta Kishtwar before he reach Home at village feller in Thakrie block of Kishtwar District where he meet several family members, play cricket with around three dozen local youths, went to local barber shop, withdraw money from local JK Bank Branch Thakrie before took part in a congregation where nearly 150 people had assembled.
After creating havoc in Thakrie village, this positive case travel to Mallar Palmar to meet with his sister and stay there followed by his participation in a relative function in the village where he served food to the people gather to attend the feast joined by people from four adjoining villages of Palmar. He also visited Hurna Drubeel area of block Mughal Maidan on 22-5-2020 before he tested positive at Assar Doda for virus.
Similarly the three positive cases from Padder area of Kishtwar District also put the administration in tizzy and during late night operation launched by SHO PS Padder and Tehsildar Padder immediately took effect measures to put the gag on the positive persons by sealing their homes beside making announcement on loudspeakers appealing the people to stay inside their homes as a result of which panic engulfed in whole area.
Surprisingly one of the positive case from Padder who is driver manage to return back towards Jammu before he was intercepted near Batote while he was heading back towards Jammu.
In Doda District among the 22 cases reported in last 24 hours, 14 are already in administrative quarantine at Bhaderwah and two at Gundow while another cases were reported from open society and they were allowed to move homes instead of putting them into quarantine.
In Doda,s Thatri a bride who married to Jammu boy on 25-5-2020 had tested positive at Jammu forcing Thatri administration to put the seven family members of the bride including her mother, two brothers and uncles under quarantine along with 15 local families who visited the family during all these days.
The officials told the Early Times that the bride had a past history of Tuberculosis that makes her prone and vulnerable to infection.
“We are ascertaining wether the bride got infected here or at Jammu— but we have followed the SOPs and as per the SOPs we put all contacts under quarantine” said SDM Thatri Athar Amin Zarger.
Zarger said that they have collected the samples of the family members of the girl added that further decision will be taken as per protocol once the report the test came in.
Following the surfacing of 14 positive cases, the Bhaderwah administration in Doda District swung into action and put curfew like restrictions in Bhadarwah Sub Division and whole Bhaderwah town and its adjoining areas wore deserted look.
Among the 26 positive cases, 75 year old men hailing from Doda died at GMC Jammu and all his family members and primary contacts were immediately put under quarantine.
The pregnant women who was operated at Doda Hospital also tested positive for COVID 19 as a result of which the doctors who operated the women, the staff members and employees posted in the gynaecology ward were put under quarantine along with the other family members of the women.
In Kishtwar senior officials immediately swung into action and declared there Panchayats of Padder block including Jar, Afani and Gulabgarh under Red Zone while areas around these Panchayats will act as contaminated zones.
The three Mohras of village Thakrie viz Khalwaji feller, feller and Mangthala has been declared as Ref Zones along with Mallar and Wasser area of Plamar block.
All these areas had been sealed and entry of all people had been put on hold.
Following the surfacing of three positive cases, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Rajinder Singh Tara visited the Padder to supervise the contact tracking going on in the area while ACR Kishtwar Dr. Amir Hussain along with BMO Kishtwar Dr. Gansham Singh visited the Thakrie and Palmar areas of Kishtwar District.
As per the details available with Early Times, around 1500 persons had so far been identified as primary and secondary contact of the COVID positive cases of Doda and Kishtwar District who were not under quarantine and around 900-1000 are alone the direct and indirect contact of 28 year old Thakrie positive case who threaten the lives of the maximum people with his act.
Meanwhile the people demanded action against revenue officials including Naib Tehsildar Palmar, Numberdar, Chowkidar , I/C police post for their failure to report the mass gathering at private house in the village Mallar while similar action is also demanded to be taken against those who fail to report religious gathering at a temple in Thakrie.
Speaking to Early Times, senior officials told the Early Times that all the efforts are being put into place to prevent the spread of the virus and till last report came in around 600 persons has been shifted to quarantine centers at Kishtwar while around 200 in adjoining Doda District while tracking of identified persons is still on.
