Kashmir to get one more political party
6/1/2020 11:15:24 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, June 1: While most of the political activities have been missing from the scene in Kashmir since the abrogation of the special status on August 5, 2019, the creation of another political party is on the cards.
Sources said some youth politicians in Kashmir have been discussing creation of new political party that will “highlight the political aspirations of the people of Kashmir.”
Sources said the youth leaders, who were previously lobbying with a right wing party at the center have been working hard on a plan to float the new party.
Sources said such youth leaders are interested to float the new party in the coming months to contest the next Assembly elections.
Sources said the group of such leaders look ahead to hold deliberations with some politicians well connected in New Delhi to finalize the modalities. “Elementary meetings on the issue have already been underway for quite some time but any concrete decision is awaited,” said a source close to such developments.
Sources said the new party aspirants have been working on a blueprint on what all should be promised to the people for achievement through such platform. “The most important thing for any such move is to see what all New Delhi can give in reality as only then promises can be made,” said a source privy to such developments.
If established it will be the third new party to have been floated since the abrogation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
While a former PDP leader has floated his own party with some of the senior leaders from various parties including Congress joining him, a group of youth from north Kashmir had also floated their own party called the Jammu and Kashmir Workers Party.
The creation of new parties has already been a cause of concern for the dynasts especially the Abdullahs who had been against such moves since day one, even when the special status of Kashmir was yet to be abrogated.
“New parties will add spice to the politics in Kashmir as dynasts will lose relevance and that it what is needed the most,” said a political observer.
