Dead people continue to test positive for Corona Virus, two more cases reported

SRINAGAR, June 2: Two more persons were declared COVID-19 positive today, a day after they died, even though 117 fresh cases of Corona Virus were reported from the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir. Reports said that two persons including an elderly woman and a 27-year-old youth from North Kashmir’s Baramulla and Kupwara districts were declared COVID-19 positive today. While the woman was brought dead to GMC Baramulla on Monday, the youth died within an hour of his admission at SMHS on Monday.
The COVID-19 tests of both the deceased were carried and they were received today which confirmed they were suffering from Corona Virus. Although, the apparent reason for the death of both was different, but still then the deaths were attributed to COVID-19. With these deaths the death toll due to Corona Virus in Jammu & Kashmir has reached 33.
In the meantime, 117 fresh cases of Corona Virus were reported from Jammu & Kashmir today. Srinagar reported 15 fresh cases followed by Pulwama 14 cases, Jammu 13 cases, Kulgam 11 cases, Kupwara 10 cases, Ramban and Poonch nine cases each, Budgam eight cases, Baramulla and Shopian seven cases each, Bandipora five cases, Kathua and Udhampur two cases each and Samba and Doda districts one case each.
The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 117 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 40 from Jammu division and 77 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 2718. Also, two COVID-19 deaths have been reported from Kashmir division.
Moreover, seven more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, four from Jammu division and three from Kashmir division. Out of 2718 positive cases, 1732 are active positive, 953 have recovered and 33 have died; four in Jammu division and 29 in Kashmir division. It said that out of 1, 83,067 test results available, 1, 80,349 samples have been tested as negative till date.
Additionally, till date 1, 85,119 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 43,635 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 43 in hospital quarantine, 1,732 in hospital isolation and 50,220 under home surveillance. Besides, 89,456 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Anantnag district has 349 positive cases, 218 active positive, 126 recovered, five deaths; Kulgam has 311 positive cases, 275 active positive, 32 recoveries, four deaths; Srinagar has 305 positive cases, 157 active positive, 141 recovered, seven deaths; Kupwara has 289 positive cases, 212 active positive, 76 recovered, one death; Baramulla has 245 positive cases, 136 active positive, 103 recovered, six deaths.
“Shopian has 181 positive cases, 70 active positive, 108 recovered, three deaths; Bandipora has 151 positive cases, 16 active positive, 134 recovered, one death; Budgam has 119 positive cases, 56 active positive, 61 recovered, two deaths; Pulwama has 92 positive cases, 79 active positive, 13 recovered and Ganderbal has 34 positive cases, 10 active positive, 24 recoveries,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 157 positive cases, 114 active positive, 41 recoveries, two deaths; Ramban has 153 positive cases, 137 active positive, 16 recoveries; Kathua has 80 positive cases, 53 active positive, 27 recovered; Udhampur has 69 positive cases, 42 active positive, 26 recovered, one death; Poonch has 49 active positive cases; Samba has 45 positive cases, 32 active positive, 13 recoveries.
“Rajouri has 36 positive cases, 31 active positive, five recovered; Doda has 27 positive cases, 25 active positive, one recovered, one death; Reasi has 14 positive cases, 11 active positive, three recovered and Kishtwar has 12 positive cases, nine active positive, three recovered,” reads the bulletin. According to the bulletin, of the total 2718 positive cases, 1222 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
