‘Madness has no reason’

Early Times Report

Jammu, June 3: Amid the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent crisis emerging due to its spread, a picture of people having relishing Wazwan in Kashmir has taken the internet by storm with netizens questioning the irresponsible attitude of the men involved in such a crime during COVID times.
On social media, a picture of a traditional Kashmiri cook also known as Waza has gone viral donning protective gear and serving Wazwan in a party where people in a traditional manner are sitting together around a trami and relishing the feast. As per the Kashmiri tradition Wazwan is served on a large copper plate which is known as trami and is shared by four people.
The picture that has gone viral and has led to netizens asking question such irresponsible attitude of the people of Kashmir during the prevalent crisis and how such congregations should have been avoided at the very first place. “Is this some kind of a joke going on. People’s lives are at risk and you are relishing Wazwan together with no sense of social distancing and norms laid down by the health experts to keep the deadly virus at bay. Has your brain along with your taste buds gone crazy,?” questioned one social media user.
Kadfeen Choudhary, a political leader and an active social media user commented: “This madness has no reason.” Meanwhile, people are demanding stern action against the person who had hosted the party and also the guests who attended the event where social distancing and norms set by the government have gone for a toss.
“The host along with the cooks should be jailed so that it could serve as an example to those who plan to repeat this mistake. We as a society must understand that it is not the government alone that has the responsibility to keep the spread of the deadly virus under check. We have to do our bit,” posted Hilal Ahmad, a Srinagar based resident.
Meanwhile, the Government on Wednesday informed that 139 new positive cases of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), 30 from Jammu division and 109 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 2857.
