Mendhar, June 3: Consequent upon closure of the higher education institutions due to COVID- 19, Dilshad Qadri, President Students Union Of Mendhar and Govt.Degree College Mendhar today demanded mass promotion of all the students enrolled in Jammu University and Govt Degree Colleges of Jammu division.
Expressing deep concern over the plight of the students, Dilshad Qadri said Students of Under Graduate (UG) 2nd semester, forth semester of Cluster University appeals authorities to come clean over the proposal of mass promotion in wake of Covid-19 lockdown situation and promote students by internal based examination is the only solution.Jammu University should also oll back the decision to conduct MCQ exam for final semester students and promote all J&K Students using internal assessment mechanism instead of exams as per UGC protocol.
He said “University is meant for the students and not vice-versa but sadly opposite seems to be true.
It is a two way process and genuine concerns and demands of students need to be taken on board, which in the present case reflect in the guidelines of the UGC”.
From Last one month J&K Students demanding that University should promote students in their present semesters on the basis of their internal assessments in order to give them a clear way ahead and hold offline classes for upcoming semesters whenever situation will normalize, otherwise, the chaos and confusion created in the minds of students will continue and it will have bad repercussions at a larger scale.he added
Dilshad Appealed appealed the Lieutenant Governor for allowing mass promotion of all the students studying in the Higher Education Department as a welfare gesture in the overall interest of the students.
“The further silence from authorities will lead the students into trauma.
