With +ve cases increasing, authorities in a dilemma to ease relaxation after June 8
6/5/2020 11:43:14 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 5: With numbers of positive cases increasing with every passing day, authorities of UT of JK are in a dilemma to ease more lockdown restrictions from June 8.
Unlike other parts of the country, the JK administration had not eased restrictions on May 31 despite the fact that restrictions were removed in many cities. Credible sources said that the UT administration is worried over an unabated spike in the number of positive cases and there is fear among higher-ups that easing restrictions would further deteriorate the situation.
In the month of April, J&K recovery rate was about 70 percent-which was pretty better than national level but within one month UT’s recovery rate has come down to 50 percent.
On May 31, when many states had announced relaxation of lockdown, JK administration had extended the coronavirus lockdown till June 8 without any further relaxations.
As per government order the lockdown guidelines issued on May 19 and 24 will be continued to operate across the UT till June 8. It said the Centre’s new guidelines on some relaxations require a fresh assessment of the spread of COVID-19 in the UT. Thursday witnessed the highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases — 285, which is a matter of concern for the authorities.
Government has already closed shopping malls, multiplexes, restaurants, schools, colleges and gymnasiums will remain closed.
