GDC Kathua organizes Declamation Contest, Poster Making competition

JAMMU, June 6: Department of Environmental Sciences, Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua, in collaboration with Ravi Eco Club of Government Degree College Kathua organized Inter College Online Declamation Contest and Poster Making competition on the occasion of 'WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2020'. The topic of the Competition was "Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic on the Environment.
In the Declamation Contest, 15 students from different colleges of the Union Territory of J&K participated and expressed their views on the topic. In the Poster Making competition, 65 students of various colleges participated by submitting posters through online mode. The event was organized under the guidance of Prof Assa Ram Sharma Principal GDC Kathua.
He initiated this contest with the objective of sensitizing the students who are staying home in the lockdown about the Impact of Covid-19 on the degrading environment.
Dr Deepshikha Sharma, HoD Environmental Sciences and Convener Ravi Eco Club coordinated the whole event. Among the category of Poster Making Competition, 1st prize was won by Leepika Sharma from MAM College Jammu while 200 and 3rd prize went to Shazia Bano and Harneet Kour from GCW Gandhi Nagar and GDC Kathua respectively.
Manvi Sharma of GDC Kathua, Sanya Mehta of GCW Gandhi Nagar and Shivani Thapa of GCW Gandhi Nagar were given the consolation prizes. The first, second and third spots of Declamation Contest had been won by Meher Fatima of GCW Parade, Aditi Tikku of GDC Kathua and Amandeep Sharma of GDC Kathua respectively. The consolation prizes were given to Kiranpreet Kour of GCW Gandhi Nagar, Chandrika Verma GCW Gandhi Nagar and Rupali Sharma from GCW Gandhi Nagar.
