Early Times Report

SUNDERBANI, June 6: The administration of Rajouri district has failed to stop the flow of activities in the Nallah Panchayat of this tehsil despite the fact that a case of Corona Virus was reported three days back.
Sources told Early Times that as soon as the Corona Virus case was reported a team led Tehsildar Sunderbani, Jatinder Singh and SHO Sunderbani S S Salathia visited the Panchayat Nallah and assured the people that lockdown would be enforced strictly.
“The members of the team who were accompanied by the health officials also said that the area would be declared as Red Zone and no activity whatsoever would be allowed. However, on ground the directions are yet to reach the designated quarters and as such no action has been taken till date,” said sources.
Sources said the activities are going on at full swing and there is nobody who has taken the initiative to stop such activities. They said that during the meeting it was also decided to put the primary contacts of Corona Virus patient to quarantine and that nobody would be allowed to play with the health of the people.
“Despite the directions the JCBs and Tippers continue to carry out their work at full throttle in the entire Sunderbani tehsil. A JCB was seized by the locals of Nahoti village in ward number 8 and the forest department was informed about the same. Other than this there is no stopping the people to carry out their activities in the entire tehsil especially in the affected Panchayat,” said sources.
The locals of the area in the meantime have appealed Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma to take note of the matter and ensure that lockdown is enforced strictly. They said that if the local administration is not able to do so then the people should be allowed to manage the things themselves.
Naib Sarpanch Davinder Kumar Sharma said that the administration should show seriousness in implementing the decisions taken in the meeting held some days back. Frequent attempts to contact Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh bore no fruit as his mobile was out of coverage area.
