JK Govt grievance cell handle ‘dormant’ since Aug 2019
People pin hopes on LG Murmu for revival of redressal mechanism
6/7/2020 12:10:53 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 6: Even as the JK Government’s Grievance cell had been resolving problems of the people, the Twitter handle of the same has been almost inactive since August 4, 2019.
Since the abrogation of the special status, the Twitter handle of the grievance has been inactive barring two-tree retweets made in month of April, 2020.
With close to 50,000 followers, the grievance call twitter handle used to be active, more so since the Peoples Democratic Party-Bharatiya Janta Party alliance had collapsed in 2018.
Official sources said the grievance cell used to be so active that everyday on an average, it would respond to hundreds of tweets pertaining to complaints.
“The grievance cell used to be so vibrant that each and every complaint tagged to the office would be responded dedicatedly,” said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
Sources said each such complaint would subsequently be forwarded to the concerned officials. “Every official whom the complaint was forwarded was supposed to respond with action taken report within a week,” the officials said.
But after the abrogation of Article 370, when initially internet services were curbed across the Jammu and Kashmir, the grievance cell handle was inactive.
“But after the resumption of the internet services, there was a need to revive the grievance redressal mechanism online… Unfortunately, it couldn’t happen on the popular Twitter handle,” said official sources.
Officials said there was a need that Lieutenant Governor LG Murmu calls a meeting to revive the cell that was responding to public grievances. “Actually the officials are unable to understand how to run the twitter handle again and how to deal with complaints. Once he (LG) passes instructions things will be back to order,” said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
When contacted a senior official said the grievance cell handle has already been “revived to a large extent.”
Meanwhile the concerned people have appealed LG Murmu to personally look into the matter.
