Jammu Smart City Project: Board of Directors 6th meeting approves several works

JAMMU, June 20: The Board of Directors of Jammu Smart City Project sixth meeting was held here today under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner, Sanjeev Verma.
The meeting was attended by IGP Jammu, Mukesh Singh; Deputy Commissioner Jammu (Chief Executive Officer, Jammu Smart City), Sushma Chauhan; Chief Engineer, PWD (R&B), Des Raj; Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti, Sanjeev Chadda; Chief Engineer JPDCL, Gurmeet Singh; VC JDA, Babila Rakwal, besides other senior functionaries of JMC, JSCL and Project Management Consultancy (PMC). The CEO (DC) gave a detailed powerpoint presentation on the works taken up and completed so far besides future work plan for the smart city projects.
She also presented agenda points before the members for discussion and approvals of various projects under smart city. The agendas which were thoroughly discussed in the meeting included approval for issuance of letter of award (LoA) for Two (02) projects i.e. vertical garden on the columns between Dogra chowk to K.C. chowk below flyover and improvement of ten (10) junctions in Jammu - Phase-1.
It was informed that the project approach is to bring about an overall aesthetic improvement below the flyover along with adding some greenery to give respite from pollution. The proposal involves covering the flyover columns with a vertical garden/ bio wall system to beautify the entire stretch. It will consist of a framework for holding the bio wall pots and shall comprise drip irrigation too. The feasibility report and DPR of this project was approved in the 4th BoD meeting.
Other projects which were discussed included road improvement from Dogra Chowk to KC Chowk, development a Multi-Level car Parking at Panjvakhtar Temple, Facade Restoration of Heritage buildings.
The Board approved release of JSCL funds to Fire & Emergency Service Range, Jammu for up-gradation and Modernization of Fire and Emergency services besides release of JSCL funds to Inspector General of Police, for Smart Surveillance and CCTV Centre.
It was also decided in the meeting that Jammu Development Authority will undertake the project of Multi-Level Car Parking at Panjvakhtar Temple. The JDA was asked to share the design, modalities in the next BoD meeting.
It was informed that 13 projects are being tendered by July 10, 2020, which are street vendor/ hawker zones development, smart poles at junctions, ad panels and dashboards display at intersections, Ad panels and dashboards display on street lights, emergency response system (early warning/ evacuation), improvement of residency road, illumination of 4 tawi bridges, gateways & interpretive signages, facade illumination of bahu fort, smart lighting from tawi bridge to airport, intelligent traffic management system – ITMS and pan / e-governance.
The Div Com directed concerned officers to keep ambit of project for longer horizon and expedite work in a time bound manner so that tangible results are achieved on ground. He also asked the concerned departments to work in unison with more zeal and dedication for completion of Smart City Project to make Jammu a model city.
