Early Times Report

Jammu, June 29: Bahu Fort Shopkeepers Association (BFSA) today flayed the administration for not opening of Bawe Wali Mata Temple, which has paralysed the market of around 150 shops since the countrywide lockdown was announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to prevent spread of Coronavirus. Association’s members today held a protest against the district administration for not allowing the opening of the historical temple. “The J&K Administration has allowed opening of all markets, public transport, but despite our repeated requests the temple is not being allowed to open for the pilgrims”, said the agitating shopkeepers. “We have submitted our complaint to Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, even we have registered an online complaint at JK Grievance, but unfortunately no actions in this regard have been taken yet”, the shopkeepers said, adding that survival of at least six hundred family seems very difficult if timely actions are not taken. “There are 150 shops in the market, and each shop gives employment to at least four people, total 600 families are on the verge of starvation, as the administration is not allowing opening of the temple. Our earning is fully depend on the pilgrims who visited the historical temple mostly twice in a week on Sunday or Tuesday, we are ready to implement guidelines issued by the government for COVID-19, even the temple management has established a mechanism to avoid any kind of violation of COVID-19 guidelines, but the administration seems not in favour of 600 families depend on this temple”, they said, adding that they were expecting that the administration would waive off their electricity bill during the lockdown period, but it seems that the administration is not willing to give them any kind of relaxation.
