| Citizen Forum demands relief for ECOs, SSCOs | | |

Jammu, June 30: Citizen Forum President R K Chadha appealed Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give a major respite for the Emergency Commissioned Officers and Short Service Commissioned Officers , who fought 1965 and 1971 wars.
The Union Ministry of Defence (MoD) has considered them for an Ex Gratia amount. These officers, as of now are not receiving any monetary help, after they are relieved from the army. In these difficult times such officers who were relieved and could not be placed at some other field are passing very bad time at the fag end of their lives. They are more than 80 years of age now and are left very few in numbers approximately 2000 only. Chadha further said these war veterans are neither getting pensions nor medical help from the governments and it is a known fact that at this super senior age, it is very difficult to maintain life without financial sources. The Sawtantra Senani Pension scheme like help should be given to these last of the 1965-71 war veterans as early as possible under the present Covid-19 threat conditions throughout the country.
