Over 50 truck drivers, helpers checked for Covid-19

Jammu, June 30: More than 50 Truck Drivers and their Helpers checked for Covid-19 on the second day of special camp organized by Traders Federation Ware House-Nehru Market with the help of the Health Department. Special camp was started on Monday. This is the third camp at ware house in last three months. Earlier on the request of federation, Medical Department on the directions of District Administration took the samples of traders of ware house and Nehru Market. In second camp, employees and laborers of this wholesale mandi were checked for Covid-19. This time, special camp was organized for the Drivers and helpers of different states and districts, who come here for loading and unloading of essential commodities. Today, 50 samples were taken by the medical team. On Monday, 27 samples were taken. According to Deepak Gupta, General Secretary of the federation, Administration assured them that the camp will continue for another two-three days to cover the all drivers and their helpers. Gupta said that a large number of truck drivers and conductors from neighboring states are also coming to the market daily. Although these drivers and conductors are not allowed inside the mandi and every precaution is being taken but still the risk is very high. We took this matter with the administration and thankful to Divisional Commissioner Sanjeev Verma and Deputy Commissioner Sushma Chouhan, who listened to us and took immediate steps to take Covid-19 sampling in Mandi, he said.
