Police conduct drive against illegal mining in Reasi

REASI, July 1: In a drive to curb the menace of illegal mining and keeping in view the orders of the District Magistrate, Reasi to bar the use of heavy machinery in digging riverbeds, a checking campaign was launched in the mines of District Reasi.
A team of Police Station (PS) Reasi led by Insp Vijay Kumar SHO PS Reasi carried out a special drive and checking in the mines located in Sub-Division Reasi. The party raided at Ganda Nallah Talwara and caught red handed the culprits who were engaged in illegal mining and seized (U/S 207 MV Act) a JCB bearing registration No JK02A 3475 driven by Parshotam Singh, son of Angrez Singh, resident of Sirla Reasi and Tipper bearing registration No JK02A 1301 driven by Sunil Kumar, son of Jivan Lal, resident of Panassa used in the business of illegal mining. It is pertinent to mention here that mining of minor minerals is banned from last six months but this mafia is extracting and stealing minerals illegally causing a great loss to the national exchequer.
