Shame! NC, PDP politicize Sopore shootout
Omar accuses police of using 3-year old kid as ‘propaganda tool’; PDP demands high level probe
7/1/2020 11:50:37 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, July 1: Omar Abdullah known for his bizarre and unnatural tweets on Wednesday once again came out to stir yet another controversy in order to hog the headlines.
Omar termed heart-wrenching pictures of a 3-year-old kid, whose pictures post the shootout in Sopore went viral, as a mere propaganda tool used by the security agencies. “Everything becomes a propaganda tool in the bloody violence in Kashmir. A three-year-old toddler has to have his misery broadcast to the whole world to drive home the “we good they bad” message. We would have got the point without his misery being filmed & shared so please don’t,” Omar tweeted.
In another tweet, he said: “We would have expected no less from the men in uniform than to rescue the young boy & for that they have our gratitude but we would expect better than for them to film & use a three-year old’s pain the way, it’s being done today.”
Meanwhile, reacting to his unreasonable and unmindful tweets, social media users have questioned Omar’s audacity in identifying the gruesome episode and how a kid has been a firsthand witness to such a terror. “Here again, you are seeking headlines by calling this as mere propaganda when you can yourself find how the kid was saved during the shootout. Stop commenting inside your air-conditioned rooms about the incidents that are far beyond your reach of reason” commented a netizen on Omar’s tweet.
Meanwhile, PDP too joined the chorus and in order to score brownie points, the party took one step further than Omar Abdullah. PDP sought an inquiry into the matter. This is perhaps a unique way for the already crisis ridden party to stay relevant in Jammu and Kashmir’s political landscape.
According to the statement, the PDP issued on Wednesday, the family of the civilian killed in the shootout has given a statement which goes contrary to the official statement issued by the security agencies.
“This needs to be probed at a high level and time-bound inquiry and impartial probe into the matter is what we demand from the government at present,” the party spokesman was quoted as having said in an official statement.
“PDP has tried to give another twist to the story. As Omar calls it propaganda, PDP has sought a high-level probe. One wonders what really is going on within these so-called regional parties of Kashmir?,” commented a social media user.
