Jammu, July 2: Agriculture University Jammu Alumni Association of SKUAST-Jammu greeted Prof. J. P. Sharma, who recently joined as the new Vice Chancellor of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology and in the capacity of ex officio Chief Patron of the Alumni Association. Dr. V. S. Verma, President of the Association along with office bearers Dr.Vivak M Arya (General Secretary), Dr. Anil Gupta (Treasurer), B. B. Sidha (Sr. Vice President), Dr. Meenakshi Gupta (Vice President), Dr. Jai Kapoor (Publicity Secretary) , Dr. Bhupesh Sharma (Joint Secretary) and Dr. Devinder Sharma (Councillor) honored the Vice Chancellor by presenting a floral bouquet. Rajesh Talwar Registrar & Comtroller Skuast-J was alos present.Dr. Verma briefed the Vice Chancellor about the various activities of the Association. Dr. Vivak M. Arya General Secretary of the association said that the university will gain tremendously from the experience of Prof. Sharma. Dr. Arya said that Prof. Sharma is an accredited entrepreneurial motivational trainer and has a vast experience of conducting strategic research, guiding, teaching post graduate students, conducting national / international training programmes and carrying out agricultural extension activities in the farmers’ field. Prof. Sharma who is ex officio Chief Patron of the Alumni Association suggested various innovative ideas to make the alumni vibrant. He advised to linkup the profile of all alumni with university website. Prof. Sharma agreed to provide fully furnished and well equipped accommodation for the flourishment of the Alumni Association. He stressed for strengthening financial position of the Association and suggested for instituting some award for the best performing students with a view to encourage other students to take a cue for excellence in studies. Prof. Sharma underlined the need to compile a directory of alumni for enhancing liaison among them and for instant contact. Moreover, the Vice Chancellor stressed upon holding the annual alumni meet on the following day of convocation of the University and assured to provide every facility for the meeting.
