JAMMU, July 2: Special Judge Anti-corruption Jammu Yash Pal Bourney today granted five days police custody of former MD SICOP, Bhupinder Singh Dua in disproportionate assets case.
DySP Davinder Singh of ACB produced the accused before the Court and sought police remand today.
According to the ACB, Bhupinder Singh Dua, former MD SICOP has amassed huge wealth and raised a number of assets in his own name as well as in the name of his family members/close relatives. He had acquired these assets with the ‘ill-gotten money’, earned through corrupt practices during his stint in SICOP in various capacities and during earlier search conducted on October 14, 2019 by ACB team, valuable assets worth crores were recovered and seized from his premises. This included golden ornaments total weighing 1.834 kg, silver weighing 1.470 kg and cash amounting Rs 957400.
“During ongoing investigation, it was established that BS Dua has also acquired 12 factories under different names and style established by him and his family members. Names of his few factories are M/s Modern Plastics, M/s Neptune Plastics and Modern Fabrications. “Not only this, he and his family members have purchased a large number of goods carriers/ trucks out of this illegally amassed money. He also owns two houses and two large plots besides four luxury vehicles.
“The retiree public servant has also raised a double storey palatial house in Posh Nanak Nagar area of Jammu over a piece of land measuring about 2 kanals, which clearly indicates that the accused is having property disproportionate to his known sources which has been acquired by him through illegal and corrupt practices during his service career and was given ample time and opportunity to provide details of the assets/properties acquired by him but he did not cooperate. He was taken into custody yestersay by the Anti-Corruption Bureau and placed under sustained questioning regarding total assets acquired by him and his family. Further investigation is going on. JNF
